PRODUCT VISION
Philip Morris USA's (PM USA) core business is manufacturing and marketing the best quality tobacco products to adults who use them. We agree with the overwhelming medical and scientific consensus that cigarette smoking causes lung cancer, heart disease, emphysema and other serious diseases in smokers, and that smoking is addictive. There is no safe cigarette, and the best option from a health perspective is to quit or not to start smoking in the first place.
Reducing the harm caused by cigarette smoking through the development of new processes and technologies has been a key priority for PM USA. Over the past decade, we have dedicated significant resources toward scientific research, new product development and commercialization which might help address the harm caused by cigarette smoking.
Philip Morris USA is further expanding its capacity for developing new technologies that improve the products we currently manufacture and may lead to innovative new products. In addition to updating and expanding the facilities in its current R&D campus, PM USA recently announced our plans to build a new $350 million state of the art research and technology campus in the Virginia BioTech Research Park in downtown Richmond, Virginia..
