ARCHES Awards 2013

For German-Israeli Cooperation in the Fields of Chemistry, Physics, Technology and Mathematics

Deadline for Nominations: 27 May 2013

ARCHES is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF) and administered by Minerva, a subsidiary of the Max Planck Society.

Programme Information:

The purpose of ARCHES (Award for Research Cooperation and high Excellence in Science) is to recognise and reward outstanding contributions to research as well as to strengthen German-Israeli scientific collaboration. The award will be presented to German-Israeli research teams headed by two highly-qualified and talented young scientists ("Principal Investigators"). The teams are expected to produce outstanding academic achievements in international collaboration, not least with the assistance of this award.

ARCHES is awarded to two research teams with 200,000 EUR for each of the two teams. Funding goes in equal parts to each of the two Principal Investigators of a team (i.e. 100,000 EUR each). Each research team should be composed of a Principal Investigator from Germany and a Principal Investigator from Israel. The principal criteria to be used as a basis of selection for the award are scientific excellence of the candidates and the quality of the proposed project.
