STARS

The Center for Theology and the Natural Sciences Announces: STARS: Science and Transcendence Advanced Research Series

The goal of STARS is to sponsor research by small teams of scientists and humanities scholars on the ways science, in light of philosophical and religious reflection, points towards the nature, character and meaning of ultimate reality. STARS builds upon the reputation of CTNS’ most recent program, Science and the Spiritual Quest (www.ctns.org/ssq), and breaks new ground, moving beyond familiar questions to new and innovative research.

Research grants of $20,000 will be awarded to the twenty most promising research teams, followed by five major research grants of $100,000 and two grant renewals of $200,000, awarded on a highly competitive basis.

Robert John Russell, Principal Investigator

Conference application criteria available at www.ctns.org/stars/conferences

STARS will hold three conferences in the Mexican Riviera, in January 2007. These conferences will showcase cutting edge scientific research in physics, cosmology, evolutionary biology, astrobiology and mathematics. On-site costs will be covered for participants, and airfare assistance is available to qualified applicants.
