Fall Stereology Workshop: "Applications of Unbiased Stereology To Neural Systems"
2014 Fall International Neurostereology Workshop
Join us for the historic 20th Annual Fall International Neurostereology Workshop to be held on Kent Island in the Chesapeake Bay on November 12-14, 2014. This workshop will be followed immediately by the Annual Meeting of the Society For Neurosciences in Washington, D.C. (November 15-20, 2014).
The SRC sponsors a merit-based Neurostereology Fellowship for students that includes full tuition waiver, consultation with stereology experts, and opportunity to present at the Annual Fall Neurostereology Workshop. For more information, please see the webpage at http://www.stereologyresourcecenter.com/services/workshops/2014-stereology-fellowship/.
In 1995 stereologists, anatomists, and neuroscientists offered the first Neurostereology Workshop on Kent Island, the third oldest English settlement in North America after Jamestown, VA and Plymouth, MA. After training more than three thousand scientists at workshops and courses around the country, the same instructors bring the Neurostereology Workshop back to Kent Island. The three-day program includes formal stereology training, hands-on exercises, Special Guest Lectures, computerized demos, and one-on-one instructor sessions, all in a relaxed retreat atmosphere of the Chesapeake Bay.
Participant goals of the Neurostereology Workshop include:
- Acquire proficiency in the applications of design-based (unbiased) stereology to biological tissue.
- Learn to identify and avoid the common sources of bias.
- Discuss the most efficient designs for completing stereology projects.
- Obtain feedback on their projects from professional stereologists.
- Gain experience in the use of computerize stereology systems.
