NEUROSCIENCE IN HIGH SCHOOL? [2]

PURSUING A LESS TRADITIONAL CAREER PATH [3]

Q&A WITH A TEACHING PLACEMENT AGENCY [4]

Below are some resources that can help you make the transition. This is by no means a comprehensive list, but it's a place to start.

Carney, Sandoe, & Associates [5]

Looking for a teaching job? CSA is a firm which specializes in placing teachers in private and independent schools in the U.S. and abroad. You can apply online [6].

JobsinSchools.com [7] allows users to post their resumes and professional information. Prospective employees can also buy information to learn more about the schools in which they are interested.

SchoolJobs.com [8] is a site that connects prospective teachers with understaffed schools.

Center for Teaching Excellence at the University of Maryland [9]

How does your university measure up in teacher training? Here's an example of what the University of Maryland is doing:

"The University of Maryland's Center for Teaching Excellence ... purpose is to support the campus-wide efforts to enhance and reform undergraduate education and to offer tangible assistance to individual faculty and TAs as well as to the departments and colleges in which they work."

NSF Graduate Teaching Fellows in K-12 Education [10]

Unfortunately, your institution has to apply for these. But you might check and see if your university or college is trying to get one of these grants. Also read Jeff Mervis' story on these fellowships [11], posted on the Next Wave.
