How do you choose a graduate school? Many people look at rankings put out by organizations such as the National Research Council or the more popular guide published by U.S. News & World Report. But although almost everyone agrees that assessing graduate programs is useful for administrators, faculty, students, funding agencies and legislators almost no one can agree on how they should be assessed.
